Brunson named Player of the Week 12 Jun 13

The WNBA today named Minnesota Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson its Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, June 3 through Sunday, June 9. This is Brunson’s first Player of the Week of the season and fourth of her career.

For the week, Brunson led the Lynx to a 1-1 record, highlighted by her 21-point, 17-rebound performance against the Mystics on Saturday. She was 8-of-11 from the floor in Washington, including draining her first career three-pointer, while adding three assists and two blocked shots. The game marked the seventh time in her career she’s posted 20+ points and 10+ rebounds in a game, as well as her 56th career point/rebound double-double, including a club-record 30 in a Lynx uniform. In her first game of the week on Thursday, Brunson grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, three offensive, in just 20 minutes in Minnesota’s 99-79 rout of Phoenix.

On the week, Brunson led the Western Conference in total rebounds (13.5 rpg), offensive rebounds (5.5 rpg) and field goal percentage (.667), while ranking second in efficiency (25.5). This season, Brunson ranks second in the league in field goal percentage (.667), fourth in rebounds (10.3 rpg), sixth in efficiency (21.7), T-14th in blocks (1.0 bpg) and T-23rd in points (12.3 ppg).

Washington’s Ivory Latta was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
