KDUZ/KARP/KGLB names All Area Softball and Baseball teams 17 Jun 13

Congratulations to the 2013 All Area Softball and Baseball teams named recently.  

All Area Baseball-



Nick Machemehl, LP/HT, Junior-(also plays pitches)-2-1 record, 0.89 ERA, 25 K’s, voted teams top pitcher, at the plate he hits .386, 11 RBI, 2 triples, 1 HR, 12 runs scored.  Good all around athlete, scrappy player who loves to compete. 


Eric Klima, LP/HT, Senior, 3B-(also pitches)-hit .333 for the season, 11 runs scored, 8 RBI, a solid #3 hitter in the lineup, good attitude, looking to play college baseball next year. On the mound was 3-1 with a 5.48 ERA. 


Tate Lange, BLHS, Junior, SS-(also pitched)-hit .310, 408 OBP, 14 runs scored, 3 doubles, 5 RBI, was the teams spark plug being able to get on base, a player that will do whatever it takes to help the team.  On the mound was 2-3 with a 3.68 ERA


Reid Nelson, DC, Senior, C-3 year starter, hit .357, 5 doubles, 2 triples, 18 RBI, .979 fielding percentage, thew out 40% of base runners, good solid player. 


Dan Butz, Waconia, Senior, 3B-4 year starter for the Wildcats, hit .407 for the team, overall great player. 


Riley Gruenhagen, HLWW, Junior, IF-All Conference, .364 average, 7 doubles, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored, #3 hitter for the team, Clutch hitter.  (also pitches…is 3-0, 5.06 ERA)


Joe Reinert, WM, Senior, 1B-All Conference, hit .373, 13 runs scored, 14 RBI, best quality is his defense…980 fielding percentage, very nice ablity to stretch and dig balls out of dirt, has saved a number of errors this season. 


Matt Elsenpeter, WM, Senior, SS-Co MRC Player of the Year, going to NDSU next year to play baseball, hit .468, 8 doubles, 2 triples, 24 runs scored, Good quick player, plays the game hard, also was the teams closer on the mound going 1-0 with 4 saves and a 1.12 ERA. 


Brendan Weege, WM, Senior, 3B-All Conference, hit .373, 10 doubles, 23 RBI, a feared hitter, brings energy to the ballpark everyday. 


Eddie Estrada, Litchfield, Senior, C-.266 average, 12 RBI, 3 doubles, 2 HR, good behind plate. 



Alex Geislinger, EVW, Senior-All Conference, Starter on their state championship team 3 years ago, hit .429, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 2 HR, good defensive abilities, Will play in college at St. Mary’s of Winona. 


Brett Ahsenmacher, Annandale, Senior-All Conference 3 years, Teams MVP, hit .523 (school record for season), 13 stolen bases, career average of .411, great defensively (0 errors this year), good speed, three sport athlete, team leader. 


Garrett Zander, HLWW, Junior-All Conference, hit .344, 5 doubles, 13 RBI, 15 runs scored, great work ethic and positive player, catalyst for the offense. 


Mike Spreiter, Litchfield, Senior-Great defensively in CF, hit .279, 11 RBI, 3 doubles, 2 triples. 


Mitchell Petersen, Hutchinson, Senior-Quick player, very good defensively in CF, hit .424, .513 OBP, 4 doubles, 7 RBI, 8 stolen bases, 10 runs scored.



Brody Rodning, Sibley East, Junior-All Conference, MRC Most Valuable Pitcher, 4-1 record, 0.58 ERA, 50 K’s, 1 No hitter this year, 1 one hitter this year, dominating left handed pitcher with a  command of the strike zone. 


Hayden Willner, EVW, Senior-All Conference, Selected as Play Ball All Star, hit .417, 1 HR, 4 doubles, has an ERA of 1.47, throws high 80’s with good off speed stuff, 71 K’s to 29 walks, being recruited to play at either small D1 or a D2 school. 


Isaac Hormann, NYA, Sophomore (also plays 2B)-All conference, MRC Co-MVP, 3-2 record, 1.81 ERA, 27 K’s in 30 innings, Hit .468, 4 doubles, 11 runs, 12 RBI, team leader and Go to Guy.


Josh Lenz, Waconia, Senior-Ace of Staff, 1.57 ERA, playing ball for Concordia St. Paul next season. 


Michael Herd, WM, Junior-7-1 record, 0.48 ERA, 23 K’s, Ace of the staff, developed into a nice competitive pitcher, has 4 playoff wins. 


Dylan Koll, Litchfield, Senior-4-1 record, 0.94 ERA, 1 save, opponents hit only .185 against him, All Conference, named teams top pitcher, at the plate hit .279 with 12 RBI.  


All Area Coach of the Year-


Justin Stohs, Watertown Mayer-took a just better than average regular season and turned it into a magical run through the playoffs.  Won the section Championship after losing their second game of playoffs, came back to win 6 games in a row for the title.  Brought Royals to their first ever state tournament.


All Area Softball-



Caitlin Kammerer, WM, Freshman, 2B-All Conference, hit .361, 13 RBI, 2 triples, 2 doubles, 17 runs scored, .571 OBP.  Good Defensive player with range, teams most improved player, Good attitude. 


Sam Loebertmann, HLWW, Junior, C/Utility-hit .511, 18 RBI, 16 runs scored, 2 doubles, 3 triples, All Conference, teams Offensive MVP, school record holder for triples in a career, hard worker, good mind for the game.


Kaitlin Jensen, Hutchinson, Senior, 3B-Hit .349, 1 HR, 9 RBI, All Section, played a bit of OF and 1B, clean up hitter, team needed her bat in the lineup in a shortened season.


Taylor Ebnet, BOLD, Senior, SS-All Conference, All State Academic, hit .341, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 8 RBI, 8 stolen bases, good leader on and off the field, great student in the classroom – 4.0 GPA. 


Erica Melbie, ACGC, Senior, C-All Conference, hit .317, 20 runs scored, 6 doubles, 4 HR, 19 RBI, 14 stolen bases, .990 fielding percentage, thrown out 36% of base runners.  Calls a nice game, Consistent player. 


Natasha Dallman, ACGC, Senior, SS-All Conference, hit .459, .530 OBP, 21 runs scored, 7 doubles, 2 HR, 23 RBI, Always has a dirty uniform going for balls in the dirt, hustler, makes plays, a prolific player for a team that averaged 8.5 runs a game. 


Holly Schumacher, EVW, Senior, 3B-All State, All Conference, hit .373, 18 RBI, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 6 HR, .476 OBP, 3 year starter, #3 hitter for the team.  Going on to play Volleyball and Softball at St. Cloud Technical College. 


Shannon Nix, LP/HT, Junior, C-All State, All Conference, hit .468, 12 runs scored, 6 doubles, 1 triple, 3 HR, 24 RBI, threw out 88% of base stealers, .980 fielding percentage.  Good leader on and off the field, good student in the classroom. 


Breanna Ahlers, GFW, C-All Conference, Team Captain, Teams top defensive player, 3 year starter, good leader on the field, positive attitude, helped lead team to first ever Conference Championship.  Hit .438, .534 OBP, 12 RBI, 10 runs scored, .984 fielding percentage. 


Courtney Lemke, Glencoe Silver Lake, Senior, SS-All conference, All State 2nd team, Selected to play in the All Star Series, 2 year captain. Hit .537, 15 runs scored, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 2 HR, 14 RBI, a 4 year starter, great leader, goes out of her way to help the other players. 


Kim Kurtzweg, Sibley East, Junior, SS-Teams MVP for 2nd straight year, All Conference, hit . 423, 19 runs scored, 2 doubles, 3 triples, 1 HR, 13 RBI, and 25 stolen bases.  Solid defensively, can make some nice plays, outstanding in classroom with 3.9 GPA. 



Taylor Moynaugh, WM, Senior-(also plays catcher), All Conference, Teams offensive player of the year, Hit .450, 24 RBI, 7 triples, 4 doubles, 20 runs scored.  3 year starter, good mentor for younger players.


Brooke Willemsen, NYA, Senior-(also pitches)Teams Co MVP, All Conference, All State HM, hit .397, 2 doubles, 5 HR, 29 RBI, 22 runs scored, good all around player.  On the mound was 7-1 with a 2.20 ERA.  She is the school record holder for HR’s (17).


Hannah Wilner, ACGC, Freshman-All Conference, hit .424, .567 OBP, 21 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 triple 2 HR, 12 RBI, 12 stolen bases, .929 fielding percentage.  Teams leadoff hitter, quick player.


Morgan Roush, LP/HT, Senior-All State HM, hit. 484, 24 runs scored, 7 doubles, 2 triples, 1 HR, 19 RBI, selected to play in All Star Series.  4 year starter, 2 year captain, Good leader, KDUZ Senior Scholar. 


Breann Walsh, Sibley East, Sophomore-Teams top hitter, hits .509, 12 RBI, 15 runs scored, 8 stolen bases, Good attitude, brings fun to the game, good defensively. 



Sarah Kivisto, DC, Junior-10-2 record, 0.86 ERA, 111 K’s, hits .367 at the plate, 7 RBI, 3 doubles, 1 triple, defensive backbone of the team, good leader, work horse on the mound.


Natalie Stockman, NYA, Junior- (also utility player IF and OF) Co Team MVP, All State, hit .603 at the plate, 46 RBI, 6 HR, 14 doubles, 23 runs scored.  On the mound was 7-1 with a 0.84 ERA, 58 K’s.  One of the top hitters in the state, 4 year starter and has struck out only 7 times in those 4 years. 


Sydney Larson, ACGC, Senior-West Central South Conference MVP, hit .472, .569 OBP, 20 runs scored, 4 doubles, 2 triples, 4 HR, 16 RBI. On the mound is 8-6, 4.81 ERA, 72 K’s. Very solid player that has developed into a prime time player.  Currently Holds 9 School Records in Softball. 


Baylee Lahr, EVW, Senior-All Conference, 11-4 record, 3.24 ERA, 48 K’s, at the plate hits. .296, 7 RBI, .392 OBP.  Key player in the Eagles two runs to the state tournament the past two seasons. 


Rachel Heuer, LP/HT, Senior-12-3 record, 1.21 ERA, 86 K’s, Teams MVP, All State Academic, selected to play in the All Star Series, All State 2nd team, hit .304 at the plate, 15 runs. 10 stolen bases, 3 year captain, KDUZ Senior Scholar. 


All Area Coach of the Year-

Dave Dziengel, Eden Valley Watkins-Took team to 2nd straight Section Championship and State Tournament appearance, 14 wins this season, 3rd place finish in Central Minnesota Conference, into 3rd place game in State Tournament.
