Three people will be inducted this weekend into the KDUZ/KARP/KGLB Sports Hall of Fame. Silver Lakes Keith Stifter, Hutchinson’s Mike Marquardt, and Hutchinson’s Nate Swift are this year’s honorees.
Stifter was a 4 sport athlete but known most for Basketball and Football. In Basketball he was a 1,000 point scorer and former Conference MVP, and in Football he was a defensive standout with 11 interceptions his senior season before going on to play football in college.
Marquardt will be best known for his baseball. Marquardt holds a career average of over .400 in High School and was named All State and a Lions All Star. He’s played Amateur Baseball over 20 years and still holds a number of Hutchinson records.
And Swift will be known as one of the best football players in Hutchinson history. Swift led the Tigers to a prep bowl, was named All State at two different positions, and was named the Minnesota State Player of the Year in his senior season. He would go on to have a stellar career at the University of Nebraska, and had a brief career in the NFL.
Two of the Three honorees are confirmed to participate in the on air ceremonies this Saturday at 10:10 am on the Area Sports Roundup.
