Wounded Warrior Softball team coming to Waconia, Niemeyer to participate in game 10 Jul 13

This weekend the Waconia Lions will be honoring our military veterans with a sports twist. The Lions are presenting Veterans Weekend, bringing in the Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team. Lions member Dave Gohl says the team will be playing three games. The first will be a celebrity game on Friday night (7/12) at 7 pm. KDUZ/KARP/KGLB’s Joel Niemeyer and other Media personalities from around the Twin Cities will participate along with some representatives of the Minnesota Vikings. The other two games will be Saturday, at 10:30 am and 1 pm. The Warriors will play the Waconia Fire Department in one game, and post 9/11 Veterans in the other game. In addition to the softball games, folks can stop by and get autographs both days. Musically the Warrior Spirit band will play both days, and local native Jenn Bostic will perform. A Picnic will be held for all to come on Saturday. All events are free and open to the public.
