INDIANS NOTES:

·    The Indians begin the “second-half” of the season with a loss to the Twins, snapping their four-game winning streakdespite the loss the Indians are still 4-3 against the Twins this season and 22-19 against the American League Centralthe Indians have lost just three of their last nine games, eight of their last 18 games and 10 of their last 27 games.

·    Scott Kazmir allowed two unearned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three in 6.0 innings tonightit was his second straight start of at least 6.0 inningshe has allowed two-runs-or-less in five of his last six starts, going 2-0, 1.95 ERA (37.0 IP, 8 ER) with 10 walks and 28 strikeouts in those six starts since June 21 vs. Minnesotaover those six starts he has lowered his season ERA from 5.37 to 4.30his no-decision in tonight’s start extends his streak of starts without a loss to seven (2-0 in those seven).

·    Michael Bourn (2-for-4) drove in two runs with a double in the third inning…he has at least one hit in five of his last six road games, hitting .370 (10-for-27) with four RBI and five runs scored in those six games…he also extended his current hit-streak against the Twins to six games tonight, since June 20, 2009…over the six games he is hitting .480 (12-for-25) with a home run, two doubles and seven RBI…six of the seven games he has played in his career against the Twins have been multi-hit efforts…he now has 27 multi-hit games on the season, tied most on the Indians with Michael Brantley and Jason Kipnis.

·    Michael Brantley (1-for-2) has at least one hit in eight of his last nine games, since July 7over the nine games he is hitting .344 (11-for-32) with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBI.

·    Mike Pelfrey allowed two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five in 5.2 innings tonightit was his fifth start of the season to allow less than two runshe has tossed at least 5.1 innings in each of his last eight startsover those eight starts he is 1-3, 4.31 ERA (48.0 IP, 23 ER) with 15 walks and 31 strikeoutswith tonight’s start Pelfrey lowered his home ERA to 5.33 (49.0 IP, 29 ER) on the season, now lower than his road ERA of 5.49 (39.1 IP, 24 ER).

·    Trevor Plouffe (1-for-3) tied the game 2-2 with a two-run, two-out single in the sixth inninghe extended his current hit-streak to four games with the singlehe now has at least one hit in 31 of his last 36 games, since May 12over those 36 games he is hitting .287 (39-for-136) with 24 RBI…he has reached base safely in 46 of his last 51 games.

·    Joe Mauer (1-for-3) drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the eighth inning tonighttonight marked his fourth straight game at Target Field with an RBIhe walked in his third plate appearance on the night, his 50th walk of the season and 605th of his careerhe needs eight walks to tie Rod Carew (613) for fourth on the Twins all-time walks listhe has walked seven times in his last eight games.

·    Jared Burton struckout the side in his 1.0 inning tonight, the second time this season he has struckout each of the batters he has faced in an outing (also three strikeouts in 1.0 inning onMay 9 at Boston).
