A St. Peter man who had been facing a total of 22 felony charges after numerous guns and drugs were found in his home has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison.
Thirty-year-old Michael Donald Caya was sentenced this week as part of a plea agreement.
Caya was arrested earlier this year after a search of his home turned up methamphetamine, prescription pills, ecstasy and marijuana. Nine firearms and more than 30 boxes of ammunition were also found.
Caya reportedly told police that he had the guns to protect his family from the government.
He pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and the other charges were dismissed. He was ordered to report to prison immediately after being sentenced to 54-months in Nicollet County Court Tuesday. He was given credit for the 213 days already served.
