BLUE JAYS NOTES:

  • ·   The Blue Jays beat the Twins today for their eighth win in their last 10 games and 10th win in their last 13 games…the Jays finished the season series going 5-1 against the Twins…Toronto is now 11-3 all-time at Target Field…the Blue Jays are now 16-15 against the AL Central this season.
  • ·   Esmil Rogers tossed 7.2 shutout innings, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out four…the 7.2 innings are a career-high…he has not allowed a run since allowing two in a relief outing August 27 in 3.1 innings…he has back-to-back scoreless starts (14.0 IP)…he has nine strikeouts and just two walks in his last two starts.
  • ·   Mark DeRosa (2-for-3) collected his seventh multi-hit game today…it was his first multi-hit game since going 2-for-4 August 17 at Tampa Bay, a span of 10 games…he had just one hit in his last 10 games coming into today (1-for-last-20).
  • ·   Jose Reyes (2-for-4) has a hit in five straight games…over those five he is hitting .455 (10-for-22) with three doubles and three RBI…he hit .417 (5-for-12) with three doubles in the three-game series at Minnesota…he drove in the first run of the game with a double in the eighth inning, his 33rd RBI of the season…today marked his 28th multi-hit game of the season.
  • ·   Ryan Goins (2-for-3) collected his fifth multi-hit game of the season today…he has at least one hit in 11 of his 15 games played this season.

 

TWINS NOTES: ­

  • ·   The Twins lost to the Blue Jays tonight for their 10th straight loss at Target Field, setting the all-time record for consecutive losses at home in Twins history, since 1961…it ties the franchise record (since 1901), the Washington Senators also 10 straight home lossesSeptember 15-29, 1957…Minnesota is 1-12 in their last 13 home games…the Twins are now 9-21 against the AL East this season, 3-4 in September and 27-56 when allowing the opponent to score first in a game…Twins are 5-20 against the Jays since July 7, 2010 and 10-35 since July 23, 2007.
  • ·   Andrew Albers tossed 7.0 shutout innings today, allowing just four hits and no walks while striking out five…it was his third career start to not allow a run, following his first two major league starts where he combined to toss 17.1 scoreless innings…it marked his fifth start of at least 7.0 innings (7 career starts)…he has allowed just three walks in 45.2 innings pitched while striking out 20…he was issued a no decision in the game and is looking for his first win since August 12 vs. Cleveland.
  • ·   Trevor Plouffe (1-for-4) has at least one hit in 17 of his last 20 games, since August 18…over the 20 games he is hitting .321 (25-for-78) with eight doubles, two home runs and five RBI.
  • ·   Alex Presley (2-for-3) collected a hit in his fifth straight game…he has a hit in six of his seven games since being acquired by the Twins on August 31…in those seven games he is hitting .400 (12-for-30) with two doubles, a home run and five RBI…five of his last seven games have been multi-hit efforts.
  • ·   Pedro Florimon (1-for-3) has a hit in back-to-back games for the first time since having a hit in three straight August 23-25.
  • ·   The Rochester Red Wings were eliminated from the International League playoffs, losing 3-0 to the Pawtucket Red Sox in the final game of the five-game series…all Twins minor league affiliates seasons have ended.
