ANGELS NOTES:

  • ·    The Angels lost to the Twins tonight and finish the season series 1-5 against Minnesota…the loss snapped their four-game road win-streak…the Angels fall to 18-14 against the AL Central this season and have lost each of their last five against AL Central teams.
  • ·    Jered Weaver allowed three runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out five in 6.0 innings tonight…it was his fourth straight quality start…he has tossed at least 6.0 innings in each of his last five starts…he was issued a no decision for the first time since July 29 at Texas, a span of seven starts with a decision (4-3 in those seven)…the five strikeouts were the most in his last three starts…the nine hits tied his season high done three other times with the last being August 14 at New York-AL.
  • ·    Mike Trout (1-for-4) extended his current hit-streak to 11 games with a first inning single…over the 11 games he is hitting .421 (16-for-38) with three doubles, a triple and three RBI…since August 11, he has at least one hit in 23 of his 25 games playing, batting .382 (34-for-89) in that span.
  • ·    Kole Calhoun (3-for-4) has collected at least one RBI in 12 of his last 13 starts…he came into today batting .382 (13-for-34) with runners in scoring position…he has at least one hit in 14 of his last 15 starts, hitting .375 (21-for-56) in those 15 starts…he collected his eighth multi-hit game of his career, all of which have come since August 1, 2013 (35 games)…he has three extra-base hits in his last two games (2 doubles, 1 home run)…tonight marked his third career three-plus hit game (others: 8/2 vs. TOR, 8/20 vs. CLE).
  • ·    Mark Trumbo (2-for-4) extended his current hit-streak to five games today…it was his 33rd multi-hit game of the season…he now has at least one hit in four straight road games.

 

TWINS NOTES: ­

  • ·    The Twins beat the Angels today, snapping their 10-game losing streak at Target Field…Minnesota is 2-12 in their last 14 home games…the Twins are now 18-8 against the AL West this season with just seven games remaining (all against OAK)…the Twins finish the season series with a 5-1 record against the Angels, tied for the most wins against the Angels since going 6-3 in 2001 (5-2 in 2010, 5-4 in 2002)…their .833 win percentage is the second best in franchise history against the Angels (.846, 11-2 in 1992).
  • ·    Pedro Hernandez allowed three runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out three in 4.2 innings…it was the shortest of his last three starts…he has allowed three-runs-or-less in each of his last five starts, however only one of those have been quality outings.
  • ·    Glen Perkins recorded his 33rd save of the season…it was his 51st career save tying him with Bill Cambell for ninth on the Twins all-time list.
  • ·    Josmil Pinto (3-for-4) collected a hit in his sixth straight start tonight…he has a hit in each of his starts since having his contract selected August 31…the only game he failed to get a hit was in a pinch-hit appearances in yesterday’s game…in the seven games he has played he is hitting .565 (13-for-23) with four RBI.
  • ·    Trevor Plouffe (2-for-4) tied the game with a two-RBI single in the fifth inning tonight…it was his 10th multi-RBI game of the season…he has seven RBI over his last seven games, since September 2 at Houston…he has at least one hit in 18 of his last 21 games, since August 18…over the 21 games he is hitting .329 (27-for-82) with eight doubles, two home runs and eight RBI…he has 102 hits on the season, a career-high passing the 99 he had last season…he is one of five Twins with 100 hits this season.
  • ·    Pedro Florimon (2-for-3) has a hit in three straight games, including having multiple hits tonight for the 22nd time this season…the three-game hit-streak is the longest since a five-game streak July 10-19…he stole his 14th base of the season, a mark that leads all Twins.
