RAYS NOTES:

  • ·   The Rays are now 5-0 against the Twins this season and have won 10 straight games against the club which is the second-longest winning streak against an opponent in Rays history only behind a 12 game winning streak vs. Baltimore, April 30, 2008-September 24, 2008…the Rays have shutout opponents 14 times this season, seven of which are on the road…first shutout of Minnesota since August 8, 2000.
  • ·    Chris Archer pitched 6.0 scoreless innings allowing three hits and seven strikeouts…is 2-0 in two starts against the Twins this year, allowing only one unearned run with nine strikeouts and no walks in 12.0 innings pitched…including tonight, has had six starts this year in which he did not walk a batter, all coming in his last 13 starts overall…in those starts, he is 5-0 with a 0.41 ERA (44-IP, 2-ER)…recorded his 3rd scoreless outing of the season, first since his complete game shutout at Yankee Stadium on July 27.

  • ·   The Twins lost to the Rays tonight losing their third straight game…the Twins have lost 10 straight games to Tampa Bay dating back to April 21, 2012 which is their longest losing streak vs. one opponent since losing 13 straight to the Yankees, May 10, 2002-April 21, 2003…the Twins are now 60-61 all-time against the Rays and 34-28 at home (3-11 at Target Field)…Minnesota is 9-23 this season against the AL East…have been shutout 12 times this season.
  • ·   Kevin Correia allowed three runs on eight hits with five strikeouts…has pitched at least 6.0 innings in his last seven starts…Correia has posted an ERA of 2.87 (47.0 IP, 15 ER) in his last seven starts…has a team-leading 16 quality starts and now has 89 in his career…has pitched at least 6.0 innings in 113 of his 188 career starts.
  • ·   Alex Presley (1-for-4) is hitting .333 (17-for-51) as a Twin…he has hit safely in his last four games and has at least one hit in 10 of his 12 games as a Twin.
  • ·   Trevor Plouffe (2-for-4) is hitting .324 (24-for-74) with five doubles, two home runs and seven RBI in his last 19 games since August 24…he has reached base safely in 15 of the 19 games and recorded multi-hit games in six of his last 11.
