A motorist in Hutchinson was hit by a falling tree as he was driving on Jefferson Street this morning (Thursday).
At just after 9:30 this morning, a tree was blown over and landed on Larry Labraaten’s pickup as he was driving in the 900 block of Jefferson Street, pinning him in the vehicle.
Fire and Street Department crews were called to the scene to remove the tree and extricate the 58-year-old Hutchinson man from the vehicle.
Labraaten was taken by ambulance to the Hutchinson Health for treatment of unknown injuries, believed to be non-life threatening.
Heavy Rains and High winds moved through a large portion of the state this morning.
McLeod County Emergency Management Director Kevin Mathews says there were reports of street flooding in McLeod County because the catch basins couldn’t handle the heavy rain. 40-plus mile an hour winds were reported locally, 70-plus mile an hour winds were reported in other parts of the state. Heavy rain, street flooding, and hail were reported in Monticello in Wright County.
