Fire destroyed a building in Lester Prairie Monday afternoon.
The building, at 524 Central Avenue, had been a restaurant, but was no longer being used for that however, there were attached apartments.
McLeod County authorities say the fire was reported at 1:40 Monday afternoon. There were no injuries.
At some point, the building began to collapse, and fire crews were called out of the structure for safety purposes.
The building is a total loss. Crews cleared the scene shortly after 8pm.
Lester Prairie Police Chief Bob Carlson says the building will be leveled and the site cleared. The Lester Prairie Building Inspector was on scene to determine if the attached apartments could be habitable.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Red Cross was called in to assist the displaced residents.
