Authorities believe a bandit has struck again along I-94.
An early Wednesday morning hold up in Maple Grove is the latest stick-up blamed on a man in a ski mask.
Yesterday’s robbery occurred at the Burger King restaurant on Grove Drive just after 6am.
Authorities say the robber brandished a handgun and ordered two employees into a cooler before leaving with an undetermined amount of cash.
Maple Grove Police Captain Keith Terlinden told KARE 11 the man’s calm demeanor is an indication of prior experience as a robber, since he was apparently unhurried and methodical in executing the crime.
Wright County Sheriff’s investigators have been looking for a person believed to be the same man, who tried and failed to hold up the Burger King in Clearwater just after Midnight on September 19th, then moved a few miles down I-94 to the Monticello Burger King. There, he was able to hold up the store and escape with cash.
On October 5th, investigators say the man struck the Game Stop Store in Monticello. Until the Burger King robbery in Maple Grove, it was the latest in a string of such armed thefts all the way west to Saint Cloud.
Maple Grove police obtained surveillance photos of the suspect wearing grey tennis shoes, a grey “Columbia style” jacket with a zipper on the left shoulder, a black ski mask with a white mark on the right side of the face and gloves.
Authorities believe the suspect was driving a dark DodgeDurango, possibly 2005 model.
Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call the Maple Grove Police at 763-494-6189 or the Wright County Sheriff’s at 763-682-1162.
