The Mcleod County Veterans Memorial Park in Hutchinson is expected to have a new arrival for display soon.
Officials say a Viet Nam-era Huey helicopter should arrive sometime in the next several days. However, before it’s put in place, the helicopter will have to be prepped for mounting.
A local veterans group has been working for years to acquire one of the Helicopters.
After the city council approved the request to add the helicopter for display earlier this year, the veteran’s group was notified that a Huey was available from the USS Intrepid Museum in New York City for display at the Hutchinson park.
Once the helicopter is ready for mounting, it will be put atop a pedestal that is already in place at the park.
Dedication and mounting of the war bird is scheduled for November 2nd.
