KDUZ KARP KGLB names all area football team 23 Nov 13

Congratulations to the 2013 All Area Football Team named Nov. 23 by KDUZ/KARP/KGLB.  Honorees include:

All Area Football Team 2013

Alex Heigl, LP/HT, Senior-Gopher Valley 1A Player of the Year, All Conference, passed for 1,265 yards and 11 TD’s, rushed for 1,056 yards and 16 TD’s, also coverted 11 2 point conversions, 3 year starter, has a kick return for TD this year, helped guide the bulldogs to a 25-8 record during his time and 2 state tournament bids, part time defensive player that had 4 INT’s this year.

Riley Atkinson, Annandale, Senior-threw 122 of 243 for 2,128 yards and 20 TD’s, only 6 INT’s.  Riley also had 6 rushing TD’s this year, stepped up nicely in his first year starting.

Running Back-
Tory Adams, Hutchinson, Senior-All WCC, Over 1,500 yards rushing, cog that makes the Hutchinson offense go, over 25 TD’s.

Ben Steffel, BOLD, Junior-1,651 yards rushing, 16 TD, 7.6 yards per carry, shifty running style, hard to tackle.

Jacob Stuedemann, GSL, Senior-All Conference, WCC Special Teams Player of the year, 1,260 yards rushing, 29 TD’s, 181 yards receiving, 1 TD, tremendous athlete with great skills, lead team in rushing and receiving. 

Full Back-
Dalton Clouse, GSL, Senior-2 time All Conference, WCC RB of the Year, 1,224 rushing yards, 9 TD’s, 85 yards receiving, 3 TD’s, almost 2,900 career rushing yards, tremendous blocker, 3 year starter

Wide Receivers-
Nick Machemehl, LP/HT, Senior-3 year all conference, 46 catches, 773 yards, 6 TD’s, 3 2pt conversions, 2 kickoff returns for TD’s, 4 year starter, good leader, part time defensive player that had 4 INT’s.

Matt Miller, Annandale, Senior-2 time All Conf, WCC WR of the Year, 42 catches, 667 yards, 10 TD’s, also rushed 104 times for 796 yards and 8 TD’s.  As Wildcat QB he was 4 of 6 for 107 yards and 2 TD, one of the top athletes in the area, also standout athlete in basketball and track.

Tight Ends-
Trevor Nissen, BOLD, Senior-20 catches, 428 yards, 9 TD, very good size and speed, impressive hands, ability to catch the ball in traffic is very good, also good run blocker. 

Offensive Line-
Chandler Newcomb, Hutchinson, Senior-All WCC, blocked for a rushing offense that produced over 2,000 yards

Jacob Vanderheiden, Hutchinson, Senior-All WCC, blocked for a rushing offense that produced over 2,000 yards

Cordell Bates, Sibley East, Senior-3 year starter, 2nd year All MRC, anchor of the line for the only two backs to achieve multiple 1,000 yard seasons, also team Captain.

Leroy Roller, Annandale, Senior-2 year starter, good blocker for an offense that ran up over 5,000 yards of offense this season, good pulling guard, nice size  and speed combo. (also standout defensive players with 45 tackles, 3 QB Sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries)

Dwight Moe, Annandale, Senior-2 year starter, good blocker for an offense that run up over 5,000 yards of offense this season, good size (6’4, 245) but runs like a TE, very athletic big kid, going on to play college football. 

Nolan Lepel, GSL, Senior-All conference, WCC Lineman of the Year, Leader of the offensive line, helped block for two 1,200 yard rushers, One of the top OL ever at GSL.

Defensive Line-
Jake Wendland, Hutchinson, Senior-All WCC, Team leader in Sacks, Many tackles for loss

Luke Sandquist, Watertown Mayer, Senior-All Conference, MRC Defensive Lineman of the Year, Captain, 30 tackles, 10.5 QB Sacks, teams top player.  (also plays TE-10 catches, 129 yards, TD…plus Punts 38 avg)

Lucas Damm, ACGC, Senior-voted West Central Conference Defensive Player of the Year, 48 tackles, 1.5 QB Sacks, plugs up the middle at DT, 4 year starter, explosive player with great quickness

Jared Streit, EVW, Junior-CMC DL of the Year, All Conference, 69 tackles, 11 QB Sacks, 3 blocked punts, 2 fumble recoveries, consistently beats doubleteams, good on run defense, 3.8 GPA

Tyler Donnay, GSL, Senior-All Conference, WCC D-Lineman of the Year, 65 tackles, 5 QB Sacks, never quits, plays with intensity and energy each play. 

Ben White, Sibley East, Senior-3 year starter at MLB, Anchor of the defense, started 30 consecutive games, 116 tackles, 10 TFL, 7 QB Sacks, 1 Force Fumble, 2 blocked kicks.  White is the school all time leading tackler (389), 2 year captain, All State Player.

Sawyer Tersteeg, BOLD, Senior-91 tackles, 3 QB Sacks, 3 year starter, defensive captain and signal caller, never missed a game despite playing with injuries, The glue to the defense.

Chris Schmidt, BLHS, Senior-All Conference, Team MVP, 114 tackles, fumble recovery, moved from DT last year to Linebacker this year, multiple games of 15+ tackles.

Keenan Mehlos, GSL, Senior-All Conference, 65 tackles, 1 INT, 1 fumble recovery, 2 Defensive TD’s, 3 year starter in the middle, smart player, makes all the calls. 

Blake Klinkner, HLWW, Senior-All Conference, teams Defensive MVP, 81 tackles, 1 INT, 1 QB Sack, Captain, made all defensive calls, leader on and off field, playing college football next year. 

Defensive Backs-
Robbie Grimsley, Hutchinson, Junior-All WCC, Good coverage skills, INT for TD vs. Mound Westonka.  Also a standout Offensive player, amassing over 900 total yards on offense (rushing and receiving), 13 TD’s. 

Dylan Kotzer, Litchfield, Junior-All WCC, 123 tackles, 2 INT, kid that doesn’t come off the field (offensively he has 15 catches, 204 yards, 3 TD), tremendous worker, good tackler.

Garrett Zander, HLWW, Senior-All Conference, 45 Tackles, 2 INT, very good at taking the opposing teams best receiver out of the game, also standout WR (35 catches, 540 yards, 5 TD), talented and coachable kid.

Joel Carlson, DC, Senior-2 year starter, 42 tackles, 7 pass break ups, WCC DB of the year, also very good kick return man, nice speed. 

Nick Kubesh, BOLD, Junior-34/41 XP, 6/8 FG, 37 yard avg on punts, 8 touchbacks on kickoffs, strong leg, plays the field postion game well.

All Area Coach of the Year-
Andy Rostberg, Hutchinson-WCC East Champs for 2nd straight year, led team to 21st State Tournament appearance, #1 ranked team in Class 4A all season long, currently on 25 game win streak, playing in Prep  Bowl to defend their state title.
