Hutchinson Man Facing Charges After Slow-speed Chase 06 Dec 13

A Hutchinson man is facing multiple charges after a crash and slow speed chase near Darwin early Thursday morning.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Department says at 2:13 in the morning they received a report of a vehicle in the ditch near Highway 12 and 660th Street in Darwin. The caller said the driver was drunk. As deputies arrived, the driver was able to drive the vehicle out of the ditch. As officers walked up to the SUV, the driver fled leading to a slow speed pursuit southbound on County Road 14. The chase ended about one mile later after the driver lost control of the vehicle and went into the ditch.

The driver, 35-year-old Thomas Servaty of rural Hutchinson was taken into custody for charges of driving under the influence and fleeing law enforcement in a motor vehicle.  He was taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital for possible injuries and was released a short time later, at which time, he was taken to the Meeker County Jail.
