Hutchinson Police are investigating the theft of tools from utility trucks owned by three local businesses.

On Monday, December 16th, it was reported that a utility vehicle parked at and owned by Plumbing and Heating by Craig on Highway 7 East was the target of thieves.  Police say the locks were punched out in three storage compartments and numerous tools were taken, valued at an estimated $2,600.

On Thursday, December 19th, it was reported that a van owned by Foster Mechanical parked near the intersection of Sherwood and Eau Claire Streets was broken into and thieves took hand and power tools.  The victim is currently taking inventory on what was taken, so an estimate is not available yet.  However, there was an estimated $500 in damage caused to the locks.

Also on Thursday, December 19th, it was reported that a truck owned by Mediacom and parked in the 700 block of Hassan Street was broken into.  Police say the locks on that vehicle were drilled.  About 49 hand and power tools were among the items taken, valued at over $2,600.
