Personal Injury Accident Leads to Arrest Near Cosmos 30 Dec 13

A personal injury accident resulted in an arrest near Cosmos Sunday morning.

At just after 5:00 A.M, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, Cosmos Ambulance and Minnesota State Patrol Responded to 13690- 515th Avenue Cosmos, for a Personal Injury Accident.

Authorities say 32-year-old Justin Helmbrecht of Cosmos Township was Driving a pick-up truck, when he Struck and severely injured 24-year-old William Workman of HowardLake.

Authorities say Workman was at the residence of Helmbrecht visiting, got in an argument with another person and left on foot. Helmbrecht then left the residence to give someone a ride home.

As they drove away heading south on 515th avenue about 100 feet from the driveway, Helmbrecht saw something in the middle of the road.  He stopped as quickly as he could, however, he struck Workman. Workman was transported to Hutchinson Health by ambulance with unknown trauma to the upper body.

Helmbrecht was booked and released at the Meeker County Jail for Criminal Vehicular Operation causing Great Bodily Harm.

The incident is under investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
