Extreme Cold Arrives 06 Jan 14

The extreme cold is here.

A wind chill warning is in effect for this area until noon Tuesday.

The coldest wind chills will be this morning, with temperatures in the 20’s below zero and wind chills in the 40 to 60 below zero range.

Not much improvement throughout the day with blowing and drifting snow and a high around 19 below. West winds 15 to 20 mph. Lowest wind chill readings 45 below to 55 below zero. 

On Friday, Governor Mark Dayton canceled classed today for all Minnesota schools.

The McLeod Emergency Food Shelf is closed today.

Red Cross offices will be closed today.

Joellen Barak, Communications Specialist with the American Red Cross, Southern Minnesota Region says their offices are among those closing, due to the extreme cold.
