Two Die in Snowmobile Crashes 05 Feb 14

On Saturday afternoon, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a snowmobile verses truck accident at 13788 County Road 75 Northwest in Silver Creek Township.

Authorities say the initial investigation indicates that a snowmobile driven by 34-year-old Jeffrey Waldstein of Monticello was westbound on a snowmobile trail when it collided with a truck being driven by 27-year-old Garhard Hendricks of Long Prairie.  Hendricks was backing down a driveway at that location.

Waldstein was transported to Centra Care Hospital in Monticello where he was pronounced dead. The accident remains under investigation.

Chaska police say a man has died after crashing his snowmobile.

He’s identified as 26-year-old Dan Schleuter of Carver.

Police Chief Scott Knight says he had left his workplace on a snowmobile Tuesday morning and later called a roommate for help.

Crews began searching for the man and a police officer spotted exhaust from the still-running snowmobile near a park on theMinnesota Riverin downtown Chaska. Schleuter was semiconscious and in the beginnings of hypothermia when he was found.  He was taken to the Two Twelve Medical Center in Chaska for treatment and was then transferred to HCMC in Minneapolis where he died.
