Fire destroyed a large machine shed and its contents early Tuesday morning north of Atwater.
Fire Chief Gerald Schwartz says just after 3 a.m. Michael Johnson’s family heard what was likely fuel tanks exploding inside the machine shed on their farm on 105th Avenue Southeast, about 6 miles north of Atwater and 7 miles east of Spicer.
KWLM reports they called 911, and fire crews from Atwater, Spicer and Kandiyohi responded, but Schwartz says by the time they arrived, the roof of the newer shed had already caved in.
A tractor, pickup, skid steer loader and other tools and equipment inside the shed were destroyed.
No one was hurt, although Schwartz says some firefighters may have gotten some frostbitten fingers battling the blaze in single digit temperatures.
The cause is under investigation.
