Bittersweet Day for ACGC Thursday 14 Mar 14

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Schools Superintendent Sheri Broderius said Thursday was a day of great grieving mixed with excitement and enthusiasm.

KWLM reports Broderius saying they are grieving over the death of ACGC Senior Zach Junkermeier who died Tuesday when he was covered by an avalanche while snowmobiling nearYellowstone Park in Montana.

She says while they are grieving, they are also enthusiastically celebrating his life…

…Broderius says they were wearing the lime-green bandanas Thursday morning as they sent off the Falcons Boys Basketball Team to the state tournament.

ACGC faced Rushford Peterson Thursday evening.

Rushford Peterson won 71-63.

Junkermeier was a running back on the Falcon’s football team and also was a strong spanish student. Broderius says in a few weeks he was going to study the language inPuerto Rico. Broderius says Zach’s family is in the process of planning a memorial service. Zach had an older and a younger brother.
