The City of Arlington is giving residents a break on their water and sewer overage fees in an effort to alleviate frozen water pipes.
City officials are sending out a notice to inform residents and businesses of the Council’s decision to aid those customers who notify City Hall that they are running their water to keep pipes from freezing.
The Council has decided to apply a weekly credit of $24.24 to a customer’s water and sewer overage fees IF they notify city staff that they intend to run their water to avoid freezing pipes. The risk still remains for frozen water lines despite the warmer spring temperatures.
Officials say if the water temperatures fall below 40 degrees, it’s recommended that you run a “pencil sized” stream of water from your faucet.
If you have questions or concerns, you can contact the city office between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.
