Manslaughter Trial Set for Arlington Woman 21 Mar 14

A trial date has been set for an Arlington woman charged with manslaughter for the accidental drowning of her infant son last year.

The 8-month-old child was allegedly left unattended in a bathtub while 20-year-old Christina DeLeon was caring for her 18-month-old son.

DeLeon made an appearance in Sibley County Court Thursday.

She’s facing 3 felony counts, including manslaughter, child neglect and a drug crime involving children after methamphetamine paraphernalia was allegedly found in her home. She’s also been charged with wrongfully obtaining public assistance for allegedly purchasing baby formula with a WIC voucher for the deceased infant.

A settlement conference has been scheduled for April 24th, with DeLeon’s trial then set to get underway on May 29th.

She remains in custody in the Sibley County Jail, with bail set at $20,000 cash or a $400,000 bond.

She’s scheduled to be back in court today (Friday) as well for a custody hearing concerning her other son, who has been staying with her mother.
