A vehicle stolen in Willmar was recovered in Renville County when authorities responded to a crash in which the vehicle struck a utility pole Tuesday morning.
The Renville County Sheriff’s office says no one was injured, but three juveniles ages 15 and 16 were arrested at the accident scene in connection with the theft. A fourth was interviewed and released.
Renville County Sheriff Scott Hable says the four had been in a 1995 Buick LeSabre that had been traveling north on 340th Street when it left the road, entered a ditch, and struck a utility pole at the intersection with Renville County Road 11, about four miles north of Olivia.
The vehicle sheared off the utility pole at its base, leaving it dangling in the air supported by the electrical wires.
The investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from a Willmar residence on Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
Crews from the Renville-Sibley Cooperative Power responded to the scene and replaced the utility pole and restored electrical service to those in the affected homes.
The crash happened just before 8am Tuesday.
