Week two of the Brok Junkermeier murder trial begins today (Monday) in Kandiyohi County District Court in Willmar.
In opening statements last week, his attorney, Kent Marshall, said there’s no doubt his client caused Warwick’s death, but the jury will have to decide if it qualifies for a 1st Degree Murder conviction which would send him to life in prison without parole.
Prosecutors say at the urging of Warwick’s grandson, Robbie, Junkermeier broke into Lila’s home trying to rob her, and killed her in the process. Testimony began Friday morning and included Warwick’s daughter and grand daughter, church staff who became worried when Warwick did not show up to help at vacation bible school, and Kandiyohi County Deputy Jason Keith, who was first on the scene and discovered Warwick’s body in the basement.
The trial is scheduled to go through April 11th.
