April Snowstorm 04 Apr 14

MnDOT crews have been in out in full force overnight  and this morning (Thursday/Friday morning) treating the roads and plowing the wet, spring snow.

Spokesman Kevin Gutknecht tells MNN it’s easier to clear the highways in April than it is in January when it’s really cold, because it doesn’t stick.

However, Gutknecht says heavy traffic can pack down the heavy snow and make it harder to remove.

He recommends drivers slow down and give themselves extra time this morning (Friday).

Area snowfall as of early this morning, is ranging from 6 inches to a foot.  About 8 to 10 inches of snow has fallen in Hutchinson.

Some schools are once again delaying or calling off classes because of the latest snowstorm.

Some have it worse than others (Picture from MN DNR Eagle Cam
