Waseca Teen Pleads Not Guilty in School Attack Plot 12 May 14

WASECA — A Waseca teen pleaded not guilty in juvenile court Monday morning in Waseca County in connection with a plot that he intended to attack his school and kill his family.
The Free Press reports 17-year-old John LaDue entered a denial plea, which is equivalent to a not guilty plea in adult court.
The judge ordered a certification study that will examine whether LaDue will be charged as an adult.
The judge also agreed LaDue could wear street clothes to his next hearing but his legs would remain shackled.
LaDue was to return to the juvenile facility in Red Wing after the hearing. His next court appearance is to be June 18.
He was arrested April 29 after entering a storage locker in Waseca that a neighbor reported to police as suspicious. LaDue told police he was planning to murder his family and attack Waseca Junior-Senior High School with a combination of firearms and homemade bombs.
