VFW Commander to Visit Hutchinson 22 May 14

The commander-in-chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will visit Hutchinson next week and the VFW Post 906.

William Thien is scheduled to be at the VFW Club from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. Tuesday (May 27).

William A. “Bill” Thien was elected commander-in-chief July 24th of last year at the VFW’s 114th National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky.

From 1969 to 1974, Thien served in the U.S. Navy and also served five years in the Indiana National Guard.

Thien’s decorations include the Vietnam Service Medal with three stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with a 1960 Bar, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), the National Defense Service Medal and several others from the National Guard.

In 1971, Thien joined VFW Post 3281 in New Albany, Ind., where he holds his Gold Legacy Life Membership.

He and his wife Linda reside in Georgetown, Indiana.
