Willmar, Minn. – Beginning today (Monday, June 16th), motorists traveling Highway 7 in McLeod, Meeker and Kandiyohi Counties will encounter lane restrictions as contractor crews complete a preventive maintenance chip sealing project to extend the life of the pavement surface.
Motorists should plan for daily lane closures and expect delays on the road segment where crews are working. During the work, a pilot car and flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone. Drivers are urged to slow down and be alert for crews and equipment in this moving work zone.
Work is expected to be completed by Friday, June 27, weather permitting.
The highway segments scheduled for the preventative maintenance include:
- · Highway 7 just from west of McLeod County Road 2 (Silver Lake) to the junction of Highway 25. (approximately 15 miles)
- · Highway 7 from Highway 71 to Highway 4 (Cosmos). (approximately 17 miles)
With this project, MnDOT’s is working to preserve an efficient and effective transportation system that will continue to serve the state for many years.
