In a packed Kandiyohi County Courtroom in Willmar this morning (Wednesday), KWLM reports Warwick pleaded guilty to 1st Degree Murder During the Commission of a Felony. In exchange, Judge David Mennis dismissed a charge of Premeditated 1st Degree Murder.
Both charges carry a mandatory life prison sentence, however a conviction of Premeditated First Degree Murder would be life without parole.
Under the plea agreement, Warwick would be first eligible for parole after serving 30 years.
On the stand, Warwick said he was sorry and wished he could take back what happened, but knows he can’t. He said he knows his grandma is looking over him every day.
Warwick’s attorney Daniel Mohs said his client never said he intended for Brok Junkermeier to kill Lila Warwick, but only that she should be tied up and left unharmed in the basement after she was robbed. Junkermeier is serving life without parole.
