One person died as a result of a work accident yesterday morning (Monday) in Renville County.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office says 911 calls were made shortly before 9 a.m. Monday about an incident at a power line work site northeast of Fairfax along the CAPX 2020 power line. Callers indicated that two people had been injured.
Emergency responders worked to resuscitate the victims, who were flown from the scene to trauma centers in the Twin Cities.
One of the victims died as a result of his injuries. The condition of the second victim was not available.
Their identities were being withheld pending notification of relatives.
CapX2020 project spokeswoman Lori Buffington says the two worked for Donovan Construction of Ham Lake. A Donovan Construction spokesman says the man who died is from the Twin Cities, and the injured man, from Osseo, Wisconsin, is being treated in the HCMC burn unit.
The 250-mile line will run from South Dakota to Hampton, Minnesota.
The Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry/Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the accident.
