A Litchfield man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly exchanging gunfire with a Benton County Sheriff’s deputy.
MNN reports the incident began around six p.m after a man called dispatch and said he was going to a storage facility to shoot some rounds off with his gun. Before dispatch could get a location, the man hung up. The deputy later found the man sitting in a chair at storage facility east of St. Cloud with a gun. As the deputy approached the suspect, he raised his gun and fired. The deputy returned fire, then retreated for cover at his squad car. The 43-year-old suspect then took off in his vehicle.
A perimeter was set up and the suspect was found in a wooded area just before 9 p.m. and arrested without further incident.
