Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken along with Representative Collin Peterson today (Thursday) announced that the Department of Transportation has awarded the Hutchinson Municipal- Butler Field Airport $176,500 for infrastructure improvements and over $82,000 for Hector Airport improvements.
“Our 21st-century economy demands a 21st-century transportation network,” Klobuchar said. She says by investing in the Hutchinson and Hector airports, we’re laying the groundwork to address Minnesota’s and the nation’s transportation needs in the future.
The $176,500 will fund the design phase to improve runway safety, and to rehabilitate the parking apron, runway and taxiway at the Hutchinson facility.
The $82,350 for the Hector facility will fund an environment assessment for the construction of a fuel facility, the design phase to construct an electrical vault building needed to house airfield electrical equipment, and fund creak sealing the runway to maintain its structural integrity.
