Crop Dusting Plane Crash 21 Aug 14

The pilot was not injured after crash landing his crop dusting plane Tuesday afternoon in a corn field southeast of Kerkhoven.

According to the Swift County Sheriff’s Office, investigation of the scene showed that 54-year-old Douglas Jackson of Benson, was spraying a soybean field about 5:50 p.m. Tuesday when he hit a guy wire for a power pole, causing the engine of the plane to shut off.

Jackson said he did not see the wire and tried landing on the road before the crash landing in the corn field south of U.S. Highway 12 along Kandiyohi County Road 39.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
