NDSU to meet old rival 18 Dec 14

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Two Football Championship Subdivision teams who started the season on opposite ends of the spectrum will meet in Fargo to decide a berth in the FCS championship.

North Dakota State came into the year as the three-time defending FCS champions with a 24-game winning streak. Sam Houston State started the season with a new coach and many new players — and lost three of its first four games.

The teams have become familiar foes since the Bison moved up from Division II a decade ago. NDSU defeated Sam Houston in back-to-back FCS championships to cap the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Sam Houston State coach K.C. Keeler says it’s a rivalry because both teams have done so well.
