NDSU, SDSU advance to Summit title game 10 Mar 15

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Lawrence Alexander had 15 points, and A.J. Jacobson scored eight of his 11 in the final 7:28 on Monday night to help second-seeded North Dakota State beat Oral Roberts 60-56 and advance to the Summit League tournament championship game for the third consecutive season.

Carlin Dupree had 13 points, on 6-of-7 shooting, and seven rebounds for the Bison (22-9), who will face top-seeded South Dakota State Tuesday night.

Obi Emegano made just 7 of 24 field goals, but had 25 points for Oral Roberts (18-14).

Dupree scored seven during a 15-4 run to close the first half and NDSU led 34-26 at the break and never trailed in the second.

Emegano’s two free throws tied it at 56 with 1:38 to play, but Jacobson’s layup 19 seconds later proved to be the winner. Alexander capped the scoring with a pair of free throws with 13 seconds remaining.

Oral Roberts made just 1 of 8 field goals in the final five minutes.

Deondre Parks scored 21, and George Marshall had 14 points and eight rebounds on Monday night to lead top-seeded South Dakota State past No. 5 seed South Dakota 78-65 in a Summit League tournament semifinal.

South Dakota State (23-9), which improved to 20-1 this season when leading at halftime, will play either No. 2 seed North Dakota State or third-seeded Oral Roberts in the championship game on Tuesday.

South Dakota (17-16) made just two of its first 13 field goal attempts and the Jackrabbits led 17-5 with 12 minutes left in the first half.

South Dakota State went on a 15-4 run later in the half for a 22-point lead with 2:58 left and led 44-29 at halftime.

The Coyotes, which shot just 37 percent and made 4 of 19 from 3-point range, trailed by double digits throughout the second half.

Tyler Larson led South Dakota with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
