Shoplifting Ring Suspects Charged in McLeod County 05 May 15

Four suspects have been charged in McLeod County in connection with what authorities are calling a shoplifting ring.

Hutchinson police say they took information from an employee at the Hutchinson Walmart on Friday in which suspects had taken a lawnmower out of its box and then concealed the mower back on the shelf. The empty box was then placed where the thieves could readily put other items gathered from the store into it, mostly electronic items. In this case, over $1,100 worth of goods.

The suspects would then leave the store, come back later, bring the lawnmower box to the register, and pay cash for the price of the mower, which was considerably less than value of the electronics concealed in the box.

Authorities say three of the four suspects had been arrested in Sauk Centre after a similar incident and were still in custody when the Hutchinson incident was reported. A fourth suspect was also identified later, but had not been arrested.

All four have been charged in McLeod County with felony theft. They are 39-year-old Christopher Michael Videen of Little Canada, 34-year-old Matthew Michael Schirmer of Maplewood, 35-year-old Venessa Sara Swanson of White Bear Lake, and 43-year-old Lisa Marie Krey of St. Paul.
