Cow Collection Celebration 15 Sep 15

In recognition of Ruth Klossner’s cow collection being named a Guinness World Record—and in support of the dairy industry—a “Very Dairy Celebration” will be held Saturday, September 19th, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Klossner’s home in Bernadotte, MN, located six miles east of Lafayette, MN. Street address is 34085 515th Avenue (Nicollet Co. Rd. 10), Lafayette. Parking will be at Bernadotte Lutheran Church, just across the road from her home.

The dairy celebration will feature tours of the collection, dairy treats, music, calf petting, horse drawn wagon rides, face painting, and more. The Nicollet County Holstein Association, Nicollet County ADA, New Ulm Farm City Hub Club, and other organizations and businesses are assisting with the event.

Klossner’s collection—officially recorded as 15,144 pieces—easily surpassed the previous record holder, Carol Tan of Melbourne, Australia, who has 3,200 pieces.

For those unable to visit on September 19, tours are given by appointment by contacting Klossner at 507-240-0048 or cowlady@centurylink.net.

Klossner, a staff writer for Dairy Star, has loved cows since very young. She took an active part in working with her family’s herd of 30 Holsteins near New Ulm, was active in 4-H, and exhibited at county and state fairs, as well as district and state Black & White shows. She was named Minnesota Holstein Girl in 1967 and National Holstein Girl in 1968.
