Tiger Gameday – Week 5, 2015 Season

Last Game:  Hutchinson 25 Delano 10

Game Recap: The Hutchinson Tigers scored 25 unanswered points in the second half to beat Delano 25-10.  Hutchinson Fullback Kendall Glaser led the way rushing for 114 yards and 4 Touchdowns.  Fellow backfield mate Isaiah Nelson had 157 yards rushing.  Linebacker Michael Kieser had an interception for Hutchinson late in the game to help seal the win.  Hutch runs their record to 2-2 overall, 2-1 in the East Central Division.  Delano is also 2-2 overall, 2-1 in the Division.

Current Record: 2-2

This Week’s Opponent: Dassel Cokato (1-3)

About the Opponent: The Chargers have been a bit mystifying this year.  On one hand they have very good offensive talent…but have struggled to score points.  Defensively they are solid, but unable to win close games.  This team is one touchdown and 1 extra point away from being 3-1.  They can play.  I expect a good game, especially with a good rivalry.

Key Hutch Players:    We’re gonna find out if the Tiger DB’s can cover in this one.  You expect 25-30 passes in this one.  DC will go deep a lot.  But don’t sleep on the short stuff, DC will try and get some quick hit passes in there too.  The Charger QB is big and tall and has a good arm and good receivers.  Expect a lot of 1 back, 4 Receiver Sets.  Hutch DB’s will be tested a lot.  Maguire Petersen, Dylan Reid, Noah Corrow and company will be attacked a lot.    Secondary will have to have a good game in this one, or it could be a long night.

Games Storylines:

  1.  Hutchinson’s offense has steadily improved over the course of the season.  This week they’ll face a read and react defense.  Won’t see a ton of blitzes, but you will see players that are very good and reacting to what you do.  Side to side movement won’t work to well.  Expect a lot of north and south running,  that cuts the reaction time.
  2.  On the Hutch Defense, the coaches have been very impressed with the improvement of the Linebackers.  Chandler Kurth and Michael Kieser have stepped up nicely and tackled well, been leaders.  They’ll need to keep improving to make the defense go…but they’ve turned into very nice playmakers on this defense.
  3.  No let downs…Hutch is coming off a great win over a Delano team that’s gonna win a lot of games this year.  Just because the DC record says 1-3, that doesn’t mean this is a cake walk.  This is a good Chargers team that can play football.  Keep the solid play going to get a win.
  4. Some other Keys to the game…Injury Report is getting healthier, nothing new to report on, which is a good thing…Over halfway through the season, time to start looking at sections now—Hutch sitting in 3rd for now and needs wins to move up to 2nd…Special Teams, Hutch finally converted an extra point last week, Time to build on that as XP’s will be much bigger further into the season.
  5. A useless/interesting fact… Hutchinson Coach Andy Rostberg is going for win #150 in his career in Friday’s Game.  There are a number of coaches still ahead of him in the overall win category.  BUT, did you know…no one in this area has a better winning percentage than Andy?  He’s 15th all time in winning percentage in state history at over 80%.
