Hutch falls 1 yard short of State Tournament return 25 Oct 15

Tiger Rewind – Marshall 31 Hutchinson 28

The Hutchinson Football team had their final drive get as close as the 1 yard line, before time expired on the game and the teams season.  In a back and forth see-saw game, both team scored 2 Touchdowns each in the first quarter…and 3 more were scored in the second quarter.  Then the defenses took over in the second half.  Marshall took a 10 point lead early in the 4th, only to have Hutchinson answer back a minute later.  After Hutch held Marshall to a punt the Tigers took over the ball near midfield with about 7 minutes left in the game.  The next drive would see Hutch get as close as the 1 yard line, before a penalty, and the final play of the game ended with the ball on the 5 yard line…unable to get the game winning score.  Hutch RB Travis Gauer had 190 yards rushing and a Touchdown.  Andrew Elliot, Matt Piechowski, and Kendall Glaser also scored for Hutch.  For Marshall it’s believed to be the first ever time they have beaten Hutchinson in Football.  Marshall advances to the Class 4A State Tournament.
