Fire Damages Long-time Courtland Business 20 Nov 15

A long-time Courtland establishment caught fire Thursday resulting in significant damaged to the building.

The Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office says fire crews responded to a report of a fire at the Crow Bar around noon Thursday.

Authorities believe the fire started in the attic.

Despite gusty winds the firefighters were able to contain the fire to the roof and upper apartments.

A portion of Highway 14 was shut down and traffic was diverted while crews from Courtland, New Ulm, Lafayette, North Mankato and Nicollet Fire Departments battled the blaze.

Fire crews remained on the scene until around 3 p.m. when the highway was reopened for travel.

Witnesses as the scene say a lunch crowed had gathered in the establishment before the fire.

Everyone was evacuated safely and no injuries were reported.

The building sustained major smoke and water damage.

The Minnesota State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the fire.
