Captain wins the Good Guy award 02 Jan 16

Eden Prairie, MN (December 31, 2015) – Minnesota Vikings CB Captain Munnerlyn has been honored with the Korey Stringer Good Guy Award as chosen by the Twin Cities chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America. 


Munnerlyn is in his seventh NFL season and joined the Vikings as an unrestricted free agent in 2014. The Mobile, Ala., native entered the NFL as a seventh round draft choice by the Carolina Panthers in 2009. He was also a unanimous selection by the Carolina PFWA chapter as the Panthers recipient of the Good Guy award in 2011.


In 2001 the Twin Cities chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America awarded the Korey Stringer Good Guy Award in honor of the late Vikings lineman. The award is voted on annually by members of the Twin Cities media and presented to the Vikings player who is the most cooperative and has the best attitude with the media.


Korey Stringer was one of the most popular players in team history and conducted himself with professionalism, humor and honesty throughout his decorated career. The former Pro Bowl and All-Rookie honoree started 91 of his 93 career games. He passed away on August 1, 2001 and was inducted into the Vikings Ring of Honor on November 19, 2001.
