Representative Peterson Has Challengers 04 Feb 16

Two people are planning to challenge U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson for the 7th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The West Central Tribune reports Kevin Winge of Montevideo, an Independence Party candidate, and Amanda Hinson of Long Prairie, a Republican, both filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission last week.

Winge has not made a formal announcement, but Hinson has announced her candidacy through a news release.

Peterson, a Democrat from Detroit Lakes, was first elected in 1990 and has held the 7th District seat since. Peterson is the ranking member of the House Agriculture Committee.
