Students “Rescued” from “Listing” School Bus 08 Sep 16

Several students had to be rescued from a school bus in Carver County Tuesday afternoon before the bus tipped into a ditch.

Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson says just after 3pm Tuesday Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a Positive Connection School Bus that went off the road at Mellgren Ln. and HWY 212 in Dahlgren Township.

Deputies located the small school bus on the west side of Mellgren Ln. just south of HWY 212 with the passenger side tires in the ditch.

Olson says due to the dirt road giving way, the bus was leaning heavily towards the passenger side. Cologne Fire Department responded to assist with securing the bus and removing eight students and bus driver.

Ridgeview Ambulance responded as a precaution but no injuries were reported.

The passengers were released to either their parents at the scene or provided a ride home on another bus.

The small bus was pulled out of the ditch and drove away from the scene.
