Local Donation Helps Lagging Red Kettle Campaign 21 Dec 16

(Learfield News Service) Donations are down in the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign this year and officials say they might not reach their Christmas goals. Spokeswoman Julie Borgen says in greater Minnesota and North Dakota, donations are down about $800,000 from this time last year as well, so overall they’re seeing fewer donations at the kettle, online, and with people mailing in checks this year. She says recent bad weather in the midwest is one likely reason for the shortfall.

A local donation is helping raise totals.

A Salvation Army official says a local resident made an anonymous donation of $10,000 to the Red Kettle Campaign in the Hutchinson area this morning (Wednesday).
