Winter Storm Dumps Snow on Southern MN 13 Mar 17

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Snow blanketed parts of Minnesota as the calendar moves toward mid-March.

At last check, the National Weather Service reports 9.5 inches had fallen in St. James, 8.3 inches near Madelia, nearly 5 inches in Willmar, and 4.5 inches in Hutchinson.

Snow also was falling in Minneapolis yesterday (Sunday), where Minnesota United was playing its first home soccer game against Atlanta United at TCF Bank Stadium.

A special orange ball was being used as snow accumulated on the field, and the match took a brief break from action for workers to use leaf blowers so end lines and goal lines were more visible.
