Ridgewater President’s Contract Not Renewed 13 Apr 17

WILLMAR — Ridgewater College President Douglas Allen has told friends and colleagues that he has not been offered a contract renewal and will be leaving the college.

The West Central Tribunre reports in a letter emailed to friends Tuesday afternoon, Allen said he would be leaving the school when his current contract expires at the end of June.

Allen has been Ridgewater president for 14 years.

Ridgewater is part of Minnesota State, the state’s network of four-year and two-year public higher education institutions. Ridgewater has campuses in Willmar and Hutchinson.

Allen could not be reached for comment Wednesday evening.

In the letter, Allen said he was proud of the many honors Ridgewater received during his tenure, including recognition as one of the top colleges in Minnesota for student completion rates, customized training revenues and the return on investment of its foundation.

Allen also pledged in his letter to do all he could to make sure the transition to a new president is a smooth one.
