Discussion on Raising Legal Age for Tobacco Sales in Hutchinson Halted 10 May 17

The Hutchinson City Council will apparently not be discussing whether to raise the legal age for tobacco purchases from 18 to 21.

At last night’s (Tuesday) city council meeting, the council voted 3 to 2 to reject setting a workshop date to discuss the issue further.

At the previous council meeting, Councilor John Lofdahl felt the issue should be considered, so it was put on last night’s agenda to see if there was support for further discussion and possibly moving forward on the issue.

Voting against setting a workshop date were Mayor Gary Forcier and councilors Mary Christensen and Chad Czmowski.

Voting in favor of setting a date for further discussion were Councilors Steve Cook and John Lofdahl.
