Cosmos Man Pleads Guilty to Kidnapping Estranged Wife 12 Jul 17

(Willmar MN-) A Cosmos man pleaded guilty Tuesday to kidnapping his estranged wife in March.


KWLM reports 38-year-old Cesar Garcia-Gonzalez will be sentenced in Kandiyohi County District Court September 25th.

Garcia-Gonzalez had been charged with 4 felonies, two gross misdemeanors and 2 misdemeanors including kidnapping, assault, threats of violence and stalking after he followed his estranged wife after she left work at a Willmar nursing home March 1st. Court records say he demanded she get in his vehicle, struck her with the vehicle, then drove her into McLeod County where he was arrested near Hutchinson.

Garcia-Gonzalez was set to go on trial July 25th, but at Tuesday’s pre-trial hearing in Willmar, he pleaded guilty to a charge of Kidnapping to Commit Great Bodily Harm or Terrorize, and the other 7 charges were dismissed.
