Meeker County House Fire 14 Jul 17

An early morning fire west of Kingston in Meeker County caused some damage to the home, but nobody was injured.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office says at just after 1am this morning (Friday), the Sheriff’s Office, Dassel Fire Department, and Kimball Fire Department responded to a house fire at 31615 710th Avenue in Kingston Township.

Authorities say the fire started and was contained to the northeast corner of the house. The outer wall, upstairs bedrooms, and attic were damaged along with smoke damage throughout the house.

The homeowner, 35-year-old Kellie Heggem, and a guest were asleep when the fire started. Both got out without injury.

Numerous cats were in the house; all but one is accounted for.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
